Founding Principles 

Scholastic Information Technology and Education Limited (“SCHOLASTIC”) is a pioneering new media publishing and education technology company based in Hong Kong, dedicated to the advancement and promotion of Chinese culture and education. Under the leadership of esteemed publishers Dr. Chan Man Hung and Mr. Wong To, SCHOLASTIC leverages extensive academic and publishing expertise, combining with innovative technologies and modern education concepts, to create products that revolutionize Chinese language learning and new media publications of Chinese history and culture.”

We are a cultural enterprise at heart, striving to promote the rich heritage of Chinese history, culture, and education to the public. Our flagship education platform, the Scholastic Chinese Language Learning Integrated Platform, represents a systematic, comprehensive, and multi-faceted approach to Chinese language education. Built upon our profound academic expertise in Chinese studies, over 40 years of publishing excellence, and over 20 years of experience in language digitalization, database, and software development, this revolutionary project redefines the models of Chinese language publication, teaching, and learning, and offers an innovative pathway for the use of new media in Chinese education.

About Us

Founders 

Dr. Wong King Keung

Chairman

Dr. Wong is the Chairman of Scholastic Group and founder and controlling shareholder of i-Control Holdings Limited.

Dr. Wong was a founding member of the University of Macau (formerly University of East Asia), and he has held numerous public posts, including: Hong Kong Airport Authority, Town Planning Board, Arts Development Council, HKU Council, Vice Chairman of the Council of the Hong Kong Institute for Promotion of Chinese Culture, Vice Chairman of the Management Committee of the Jao Tsung-I Academy, member of the Council of the University of Macau; member of the Council of the City University of Macau; member of the Board of Directors of Chu Hai College (since Year 2012); among others.

He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Queen’s University, Canada and Bachelor’s (First Hon) and Master’s degrees from the University of Hong Kong. He is also a Senior Member of Hong Kong Institution of Engineers.

Dr. Chan Man Hung

Dr. Chan is Managing Director of Scholastic Group.

Previously, he was Managing Director and Chief Editor of Commercial Press Hong Kong, and Vice Chairman and CEO of Sino United Publishing.

Dr. Chan has held numerous public posts including: Permanent Honorary Chairman of the Hong Kong Publishing Federation; Director of Chinese University of Hong Kong LWS College, Chu Hai College, and Sun Yat-sen University Lingnan College; first President and Honorary President of Jao Tsung-I Academy; among others.

He holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Hong Kong, and completed the Ph.D. program at Hiroshima University, Japan. He also holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Mr. Wong To

Director and Chief Editor

Mr. Wong is Director and Chief Editor of Scholastic Group. He is responsible for the development and digitalization of Chinese databases and contents.

He is a senior publisher and expert in dictionaries and the Chinese language. Previously, Mr. Wong was Executive Chief Editor at Commercial Press Hong Kong. He was responsible for the revision of 《辭源》 and the compilation of 《漢語大辭典》. Since 1994, Mr. Wong has been leading the development of the Chinese large-scale database and electronic dictionary at Commercial Press Hong Kong, pioneering the field of Chinese publishing.

The successful electronic development of 《漢語大辭典》, led by Mr. Wong, caused a sensation in both domestic and international language publishing circles. The National Press and Publication Administration hailed it as a “milestone in China’s move toward digitization in publishing.”

Mr. Wong holds a Bachelor’s degree from Peking University, with specialization in Classical Chinese.
